Amstel Bright – brewed in Curacao

In the beginning, Amstel/Heineken produced beer in Holland and shipped it to the Caribbean. In 1960, Prince Bernhard of The Netherlands inaugurated the Antillaanse Brouwerij Brewery in Curacao to target the local markets.  Today, Amstel Bright is still brewed in Curacao and it is widely available in the Dutch West Indies , Curacao, Bonaire, Aruba, and Sint Maartin (The Friendly Island).  The beer is a very pale yellow and makes a very light head. It is a pale style lager and usually served with a wedge of lime. It is easy to drink in hot weather or as a beach beer. Amstel Bright also has more flavor than domestic beers and is slightly lighter than its cousin in the green bottle. As its name may suggest, it is an even lighter Amstel Light – perfect for the hot climates of the Caribbean Islands.

As you may know, it is a KWEST tradition for everyone to keep their hometowns, undergraduate institutions, previous jobs, the city they had been living in, Kellogg program (2Y, 1Y, JDMBA, JV), and whether you have a JV (optional), a secret until the “Big Reveal” towards the end of the trip. The goal is to get to know your KWESTmates and leaders on a deeper level – sounds ridiculous, but it’s worth it!

  • Do not share any of those pieces of information with fellow participants when you meet them.
  • Avoid packing stuff with the name or logo of your undergrad institution/previous employer/sports teams, etc.
  • Try not to find each other on Facebook/LinkedIn/Kellogg discussion sites
  • If you already know things about your KWESTmates or KWESTleaders, please don’t share!

Curacao – Top Destinations 2012 at Frommer’s.
